Grip: Hands together, middle knuckles do not have to be aligned (very old theory) do not bury your hands & fingers deep into the bat.
Stance: Balanced, athletic position.
Eye on the Ball: Simple but essential—tracking the ball from pitcher’s release hand to contact.
Teach kids not to over swing.
A controlled, balanced swing generates more consistent contact than a “home run swing.”
Encourage hitting line drives and ground balls to all fields instead of pulling everything.
This develops barrel control and keeps swings shorter.
A compact swing (hands inside the ball) beats long, looping swings.
Emphasize quick hands and staying through the zone.
Teach hitters to use their legs and hips, not just their arms.
“Squish the bug” (rotating back foot) is a classic starter cue.,
Hitting is not just mechanics—it’s rhythm.
